Sachi Rome

Sachi Rome is a painter and muralist from Atlanta, GA whose work delves into history, memory, and the present-day manifestations of past lives. She uses worldmaking as a point of departure in her fantastical portraits that are rendered in partial abstraction, creating, as she describes, “protected and safe spaces, free from the constructed world that alludes to black bodies as a threat, and thus unworthy of peaceful existence.”

Rome’s textured, impressionist painting style is characterized by her technique of layering paint onto canvas using spatulas, knives, and other everyday instruments. Rome incorporates other mixed materials like diamond dust into her works, which adds dimension and reflective, kinetic properties to the expressive gestural lines she creates in her paintings.
